Great story. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics calculator, $5 in 1970 had the buying power of $28.09 in today’s dollars. Makes you think, huh? My first car was a 50′s MGB with rusted out floors.

Great great great story!! I am a little younger than you so I don’t have the same memories of the gas station, but I do have the memories of my first car. Reading your experience at the gas station though was a nice treat.
