When reading reports from “scientists” it is important to realize that what they know is far, far, less than what they don’t know. And the gap widens every day. For the last twenty years at least, everyone I know, from friends to family to my wife, has been yelling at me for not splashing on gobs of sunscreen whenever I so much as walk outside to get into my truck. I ignored them. Yeah, if I was going out into the ‘Glades on unpaved roads for the entire day, I might consider it. The sun reflecting off of the white shell packed road could burn you even if you never left the vehicle. (Hey, this is Florida!). But generally, I stayed away from sunscreen. And why was everyone on the planet screaming at me to coat myself with this goop? Scientists, that’s why.
Now comes along a report that says some types of cancer can be related to a deficiency of vitamin D, obtained best through sunshine! The story is pretty interesting, go read it here.
Of course, there are politics involved, as well as reputations to be damaged by such news. But the thing to remember is that scientists are not all knowing. In fact, they are hardly know anything. Worse, most work at colleges and universities, and thus reside in a world that is amazingly different than real life. So, my advice is to trust God and live in moderation, and try not to put too much stock into “scientistsâ€.
Peace out people
