For a week or so I had comments turned off as I was receiving so much spam that it was overwhelming my anti-spam software. Now I think that I don’t actually have a blog anymore, but a massive anti-spam program with a small blogging program attached to it. For some time I was spending more time on anti-spam than I was in writing!

Anyway, in order to leave a comment you must fill out your name and email. Don’t worry, I’m not selling your email address to Amway or the Republican National Party.

Have a good day folks.

Twelve Reasons to leave South Florida

March 28th, 2007 by Howard | Comments Off | Filed in Main

  1. More than 100 Haitians migrants aboard a wooden fishing boat landed on the city’s southern beach Wednesday morning.

  2. Police say Lake Worth shooting that left 3 dead was gang related

  3. Four Miramar teens charged with attempted robbery of Subway restaurant

  4. Senate looking at plan to convert HOV lanes on parts of I-95 to toll lanes

  5. Deerfield Beach deputy charged with possession of cocaine, oxycodone

  6. Botched robbery leads to chaos at Miami Beach bank

  7. Real cops nab alleged fake cops. What started as an investigation into strange police transmissions yielded more than 50 arrests in connection with stolen police equipment.

  8. Judge Lawrence Korda’s marijuana citation prompted Broward’s chief judge to transfer him.

  9. Police blow up suitcases at 2 Miami churches

  10. 3rd developer to face housing fraud charges

  11. Third-grade teacher charged in child porn;

  12. DOLPHINS BLOG: QB quandary

All of this from this evening’s issues of the Fort-Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel and the Miami Herald!

The Tri-county area, (Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach Counties) have suffered over 100 murders in the first 87 days of 2007!!!

Now Pope Benedict XVI says “

“Hell — despite being typically overlooked in today’s society — “really exists and is eternal.”

No freaking clue Sherlock! It’s nickname is South Florida!

Worse than all of that, the Dolphins haven’t restored Joe Robbie’s name to the football stadium he built, and the “fins are still clueless as to which has-been old injured Quarterback they are going to obtain in the next losing season.

Peace out people

It’s Monday – How about a joke?

March 19th, 2007 by Howard | Comments Off | Filed in Main
I have no clue where this came from, so can't give credit. But it gave me a laugh this morning.
Folks, it is Monday. Give each other a break today. Smile even if you don't feel like doing so. The day will pass eventually. Be at peace.
Medanwhile, have a chuckle.
Making A Baby

The Smiths were unable to conceive children and decided to use a surrogate
father to start their family. On the day the proxy father was to arrive, Mr.
Smith kissed his wife goodbye and said, "Well, I'm off now. The man should
be here soon."

Half an hour later, just by chance, a door-to-door baby photographer
happened to ring the doorbell, hoping to make a sale.  Good morning, Ma'am",
he said, "I've come to...''

Oh, no need to explain," Mrs. Smith cut in, embarrassed, "I've been
expecting you."

"Have you really?" said the photographer.  "Well, that's good.  Did you know
babies are my specialty?"

"Well that's what my husband and I had hoped.  Please come in and have a
seat."

After a moment she asked, blushing, "Well, where do we start?"

"Leave everything to me.  I usually try two in the bathtub, one on the
couch, and perhaps a couple on the bed.  And sometimes the living room floor
is fun.  You can really spread out there."

"Bathtub, living room floor?   No wonder it didn't work out for Harry and
 me!"

"Well, Ma'am, none of us can guarantee a good one every time.  But if we try
several different positions and I shoot from six or seven angles, I'm sure
you'll be pleased with the results."

"My, that's a lot!" gasped Mrs. Smith.

"Ma'am, in my line of work a man has to take his time.  I'd love to be in
and out in five minutes, but I'm sure you'd be disappointed with that."

"Don't I know it," said Mrs. Smith quietly.

The photographer opened his briefcase and pulled out a portfolio of his baby
pictures.  "This was done on the top of a bus," he said.

"Oh my God!"  Mrs. Smith exclaimed, grasping at her throat.

"And these twins turned out exceptionally well - when you consider their
mother was so difficult to work with."

"She was difficult?" asked Mrs. Smith.

"Yes, I'm afraid so.  I finally had to take her to the park to get the job
done right.  People were crowding around four and five deep to get a good
look."

"Four and five deep?" said Mrs. Smith, her eyes wide with amazement.

"Yes", the photographer replied.  "And for more than three hours, too.  The
mother was constantly squealing and yelling - I could hardly concentrate,
and when darkness approached I had to rush my shots. Finally, when the
squirrels began nibbling on my equipment, I just had to pack it all in."

Mrs. Smith leaned forward.  "Do you mean they actually chewed on your, uh...equipment?"

"It's true, Ma'am, yes.  Well, if you're ready, I'll set-up my tripod and we
can get to work right away."

"Tripod?"

"Oh yes, Ma'am.  I need to use a tripod to rest my Canon on.  It's much too
big to be held in the hand very long."
Mrs. Smith fainted.

Classical Music to Sooth The Cranky Guy

March 13th, 2007 by Howard | 1 Comment | Filed in Main

It has been about five years or longer since South Florida, one of the largest metropolitian areas in the nation, had a classical music radio station. Yes, even Tampa has a classical radio station!

But now, once again, the comforting therapy of classical notes fill my house. Thanks to HD Radio. I purchased the Accurian Tabletop HD Radio from Rado Shack. I’ve been following this growing trend of about a year, waiting for a HD radio to drop in price and actually be able to be purchased locally. The day has arrived.

HD radio is digital radio. More information is at the Radio Shack website.

But now I have the choice of two, not one, n0t zero, but two 24 hour classical music stations, and 100% free, excluding the purchase of the special radio to receive HD signals.

Peace out people.
