Lipstick on a pig!

May 31st, 2008 by Howard | 1 Comment | Filed in Main

Alice Huffman, a Clinton supporter on the committee, explained that the compromise was the next best thing to full seating.

“We will leave here more united than we came,” she said.

Some audience members heckled her in response. “Lipstick on a pig!” one shouted.

This is from a Sun-Sentinel associated press article talking about the three hour meeting that members of the Democratic Party held today to figure out if they should count the votes of Democrats who thought they were voting in the Florida and Michigan Democratic Primaries. Yes, these are the same Democrats who had hissy fits during the 2000 election because in their warped minds voters were being disenfranchised by the evil kitten eating Republicans. “Count every vote!!!!!” Was screamed over and over and over and over, and can I say it again, over again, by those Democrats in 2000.

Now though, counting the votes of Democratic voters just isn’t the “right thing” to do. What a horse shit filled bag of hypocrites. But then again, politics and political parties are just synonyms for lying sacks of shit anyway, so we shouldn’t expect either party to be honest or consistent. It’s politics!

But I did find that last quote in the Sun-Sentinel article hilarious!

“Lipstick on a pig!”

I love it.

I don’t know why they shouted that, or what they were trying to refer by it, or why the reporter choose to end the story with it. But somehow, it just sums up my entire feeling about the Democratic and Republican parties.

Lipstick on a pig!

Peace out people.

Rainy Friday Drive

May 30th, 2008 by Howard | No Comments | Filed in Main

What is a rainy Friday afternoon without some idiot driving full speed through a huge puddle pool lake of water?

————————————————————

Somehow the fog and moisture can make anyone look sexy, right?
Ok, so you have to use a little imagination…..

———————————————————

The rain eventually stopped once I entered Broward County.
But not the traffic…….or the frustrations as this poor woman seemed to be revealing.

The National Weather Service, specifically meteorologist Robert Molleda, announced that the rainy season has arrived in South Florida. Like it always has about this time of the year for the last 5,000 years or so. He also has a stern warning to everyone living in South Florida: Thunderstorms form most afternoons and spawn potentially deadly lightning, the number one weather-related killer in Florida.

“All persons in South Florida are advised to keep an eye to the sky and head indoors if thunder is heard,” he said.

Hmmm…..I’m going to have to call my job. From now until Halloween the sound of thunder will be heard virtually 24/7. I guess I can’t make it to work until then…..

I wonder if I can get a signed note from Molleda?

Peace out people.

And hey, by the way, it is freaking Friday!!!!!!!!!!!

PWD. (Photographing While Driving)

May 29th, 2008 by Howard | No Comments | Filed in Main

Kind of a boring day today on the highway. Had to really keep my eyes open for anything of interest, as well as do my best to not ram into the vehicle ahead of me. I started the morning with gas. Man, was THAT was an eye opener!!!

I would consider taking the train or monorail or trolley car, but this being South Florida where the most crooked politicians on the planet rule, there is no such thing. I could consider taking the smelly bus, but that would mean crossing from one county to the next, and traveling from west to southeast, so I would have to change buses about seventeen times, and cross through neighborhoods where the crime rate is higher than the price of a barrel of oil. Plus, I would have to start my journey at pretty much the middle of the Jay Leno show and would arrive at work pretty close to never.

The heat in South Florida coupled with the exhaust fumes of all the cars and trucks, can really make a guy sleepy. I haven’t seen this fellow move a muscle in a week. I’m not sure if he is sleeping, dead, or some new form of public art.

Eventually, on the way home I was able to make it into Pembroke Pines. I can always tell that I am in this lovely city by the official city greeters. The cops manning the speed traps. Pembroke Pines collects over a million dollars in traffic fines every year, which goes right into the general fund. Talk about highway robbery………

Crime in the city is skyrocketing, but the city forces their well trained and excellent police officers to hide behind bushes like this. What a disgrace. I feel sorry for these fine officers.

Well, that’s all that I have for you today.

Peace out people.

Traffic Photos

May 28th, 2008 by Howard | 4 Comments | Filed in Main

I drive with my camera, and as a way to entertain myself and remain awake while driving the same route to and from work every day, I take photographs. I especially prefer mirror shots. Either finding something reflecting in the mirror of another car, or in my own mirror. Such as this one I took on the way home this evening, on Pines Blvd. The photo is of my driver side rear view mirror, capturing a couple of ladies in a red car behind me and a lane over, who seemed to not be very interested in what was happening on the highway.

—————————————

This lady is brave, or she really has an aversion to sunshine. It’s 90 degrees. She’s dressed like a Eskimo. What the heck – she’s working instead of begging, I guess that’s something, eh? But damn, she must be hot in that outfit?

————————————————-

Yep. That’s about the only word that comes to my mind too……..

————————————————————-

This one is weird. Yes, I was driving along side an 18 wheeler.
And yes, if you look into that hub cap you will see my Ford Ranger. But . . .it is facing the wrong way!
And no, I did not do any photo shop on this, other than crop and sharpen.
Is must be some sort of reflected optical illusion.

Well, either it was an especially boring drive from work today, or I just got lucky with some photos.

Peace out people!
