Hmmm….I looked up the phase “Waste” in the dictionary and it said, “See ‘Government’ “.
Did you all know that Florida has an entire Department of Citrus? Sixty-eight people are authorized to work in this department. Close to $5 million in just salaries/benefits alone. The details are here: What the hell does $5 million and 68 people do???? Taken directly from their webpage, it states:
Its mission is to help grow the demand for Florida citrus products, providing a direct benefit to the citrus growers.
OK, you liberals out there who just love and get chills up and down your thighs just thinking about humongous government – aren’t even you pissed that this department is designed to directly benefit the corporations that grow citrus??? And we are only talking salary and benefits, not the travel, not he real estate, property computer supplies, electricity, etc.
I did my best to explore their budgets and activities, but it is a huge task. It certainly looks like they do work that is beneficial to the state. Citrus research, marketing, etc. But why can’t the citrus industry do this?
I jumped over to the U.S. Census website and was able to find data on the total number of state employees working in Florida for 2010. Would you believe 213,910 people???? Holy Crap. Want to know what the salaries were for these people? $705,845,919.
705 million dollars. JUST FOR THE MONTH OF MARCH 2010!!!!! One freaking month!!!!!
I am sorry, but I betcha I can find dozens and dozens of other departments even more unnecessary than the Department of Citrus. 213,910 employees? C’mon, even you government loving liberals would admit we could easily run the state with 150,000 employees, right?
The worst thing is this is magnified over and over and over again by other states, by county governments, city governments and let’s not even mention the Godzilla of them all, the Federal Government!
Raise my taxes? Screw off. Clean up your financial abuses first. Raising taxes is like giving booze to an alcoholic.
By the way, want to see the budget for travel for the Florida Department of Transportation? It is right here.
