I believe that Capitalism is the best system out there and best matched to Human Beings. Greed is a powerful force. Without greed, we would not have most of the technology we have. Iphones, Ipads, MRIs, you name it, they were all created by Capitalists hell bent on making money.
However, if left unchecked, Capitalism will destroy democracy. The laser focus on profits at the cost of everything else also matches the worse qualities of the Human Being. Government is the only thing that can check capitalism.
We live as flawed Human Beings best when there is a constant battle between capitalism and government. When government becomes capitalists, taking over huge segments of the free market, our individual freedoms are gone. If capitalism becomes so huge that for all intents and purposes it becomes government, we lose our freedom.
May neither of these ever win.
