The first photograph, an image captured this morning in our back yard, is of your typical Honey Bee. Or, perhaps Africanized Bee. They do look alike, except that the killer bee is unnoticeably smaller. Key word being “unnoticeably”. A more useful method of identifying Africanized bees is if you do something to disturb them, such as breathing or simply existing in their presence, they will leap off the flower with about 14,000 of their closest friends and pretty much sting the living hell out of you.
This bee below is a Carpenter Bee. The males are all black and do not sting, but the females will sting pretty well, as well as build you a coffee table.
