I am sort of amazed that I never heard this story. Days after the Sandy Hook school shooting, some 19 year old in San Antonio, Texas tried to murder his ex-girlfriend at a Chinese restaurant. He chased the employees out of the Chinese restaurant, blazing away. He followed them across the parking lot, shooting whatever he could hit. That included the windshield of a police car and putting four bullets into a private truck a family was riding in. He then shot a restaurant employee in the back and entered the Mayan 14 screen movie theater, shooting wildly. All together he fired over 30 rounds. Thankfully, he was a pretty bad shot, having only actually struck the one person. But inside the theater people were sitting ducks. Thankfully that is when off duty Bexar County police Sgt. Lisa Cuello Castellano took action, chasing the active shooter as he continued firing his weapon. She eventually confronted the shooter and immediately shot him four times. Problem Solved. A massacre possibly averted.
Maybe the national news media reported it, but I sure missed it. If my brother had not alerted me I still would not know of this.
Makes me wonder what other news stories are not being reported widely as other stories are reported over and over and over again.
I’m just saying, you know?

Like I said we still have too much information. Now the media can ignore it and you can still hear about it. In the old days, the media could and did ignore stuff and you WOULD NOT hear about it. As Mark Twain has said, “If you don’t pay attention to the news, you are not informed. If you don’t pay attention to the news, you are misinformed.” He actually used the word newspaper. I still miss those. Very good for lining the bird cage floor.
Correction – the second part of Mark Twain’s quote should be, “If you DO pay attention to the news, you are misinformed.”.
Just saying that I heard in the national news, of course, that “just saying” and “you know” were in the top ten list of most annoying expressions. I don’t hear these expressions very much, you know, but maybe I hang out with the wrong folks.
